Alexander Betts is Professor of Forced Migration and International Affairs, and Director of the Refugee Studies Centre at the University of Oxford. He is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, a TED speaker, and co-author of the forthcoming Refuge: Transforming a Broken Refugee System. He has previously worked for UNHCR and as a consultant to OCHA, UNICEF, IOM, UNDP, and the Council of Europe. He currently sits on UNHCR’s innovation council (“iCircle”) and is a member of the World Humanitarian Summit working group on Transformation Through Innovation. His work has been funded by among others the Economic and Social Research Council, the MacArthur Foundation, and the Leverhulme Trust. He is the founder of the Humanitarian Innovation Project.
